Calling all Picassos!

Students ages 9 to 12 are invited to join in the fun at the next After School Artist: Color Workshop on June 26th, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Come learn some basic color techniques from Raymond Otis, the Artist Laureate of Newport Beach. The class will offer a great art lesson for beginners, as students get to mix their favorite colors and learn the magic of color painting. Been taking classes? Raymond will help improve your skills! About Raymond Otis

Raymond was trained as an artist, illustrator and graphic designer.  He spent several years working as an art director and producer in advertising agencies – producing TV Commercials and print campaigns.  Raymond started his own company, RGO & Associates, where he produced multimedia film, video & slide shows for various companies, including: Bank of America, Friskies Dog & Cat Foods, Hughes, Mazda, Sunkist, Hilton & Ramada Hotels. He was the Director for Certificate Programs in Multi-media/multi-image production at the Universities of California, Irvine, U. of New Mexico, Albuquerque and U. of Colorado, Boulder. He has been an exhibiting artist in multiple art galleries on the West Coast since 2000.  Raymond has exhibited at the Sawdust Festival, Newport Beach Central Library and City Hall, Laguna North Cultural Center, Santa Monica Main Library, and at the annual SOCALPAPA exhibitions at Upper Newport Bay’s Muth Center, Mission San Juan Capistrano, and Corona del Mar and Balboa Island Art Walks. Gallery Showings include The Artist Eye Laguna Gallery, The Bear Street and Showcase Galleries, Morro Bay Visions Gallery, Catalina Artists Market, Upstream Peoples Gallery, and Quorum Art Gallery. In 2005 he was named the “Artist Laureate-City of Newport Beach” in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the arts and cultural enrichment of the City of Newport Beach.  Raymond discovered he loved teaching art to children while teaching classes at the Arts & Communication Center in Yosemite National Park, the Sawdust Festival, and at Arts Orange County & OCDE’s Imagination Celebration.
